Quick answer
Two systems get mixed up constantly. Personality (気質) is the WILD↔RULE bar that changes how the dragon behaves and fights, and it can slide back and forth at any point in a run. Aura (雰囲気) is a one-time appearance change that happens in the first week of October and does not affect stats. Aura is not decided by WILD or RULE.
Aura follows two other questions instead: whether the dragon sees you as kind or strict, and whether her offensive stats outweigh her defensive ones. The official achievement list carries six Auras — Adored, Chill, Mischievous, Reserved, Whimsical and Steady — although the older wikis still describe four.
Personality and Aura are different axes
Community threads show how often the two get conflated: players report getting the same Aura on both WILD and RULE runs and assume the system is random. The explanation that circulated back is that Aura never read the personality bar at all.
A guide author went further and asked the developer directly. The reply, as the guide quotes it, was that higher character stats and everyday interactions may have an influence. Practical reading: stats plus the kind/strict record, not WILD/RULE.
How the WILD↔RULE bar moves
The Japanese wiki lists the inputs plainly. Eating buildings, ground and other scenery pushes toward WILD; eating villagers pushes hard toward WILD. Acting according to human social rules pushes toward RULE. The bar never locks, so a run can swing from one end to the other and back.
| WILD side | RULE side | |
|---|---|---|
| Villager help | Eating in front of villagers stops affinity from rising | Rational behaviour raises affinity while helping |
| Defeated enemies | Eats everything, so stat gains are larger | Eats only part, so gains are smaller; at the extreme she stops eating human enemies and gains nothing |
| Random behaviour | Sometimes runs off to eat snacks and gains a random stat | Sometimes plays with village children, pushing further toward RULE and unlocking a skill |
| Battle | Ignores commands more often; when she does, the hit is guaranteed to crit, with a documented tradeoff of taking more damage | Commands are obeyed; buffs last one turn longer and debuffs one turn shorter; heavy RULE grants a fifth battle-skill slot |
| Skills | Some skills get stronger toward WILD | Some skills get stronger toward RULE |
Experienced players steer the bar deliberately. One thread describes keeping RULE high, then letting a Morgentiana event push hard toward WILD two or three weeks before a boss so the dragon still feasts on the remains and still obeys.

How Aura is decided in the first week of October
Aura is checked once, in October week 1, and is permanent afterwards. Two wikis agree it is cosmetic — a different appearance, not a stat change.
The two inputs are the kind/strict record and the stat split. The Japanese wiki writes offensive as STR + INT + AGI and defensive as HP ÷ 10 + VIT + RES, and warns that the formula is not confirmed; the English wiki states the same comparison without the HP division. Together they produce the classic four:
| Kind or strict | Offensive stats higher | Defensive stats higher |
|---|---|---|
| Kind | Adored | Chill |
| Strict | Mischievous | Reserved |
Whimsical and Steady complete the official set of six. A community guide records them as added on 19 December 2025 and links them to INT, with AGI as a fallback when an INT-heavy upbringing does not produce the expected result. That hint is community observation, not an official rule.
You can read the kind/strict record before October instead of guessing. Talking to the dragon while she is reading at home surfaces her current reading of you, according to all three sources that describe the check.
- Counted as kind — allowing her to eat when she asks, praising good work, not scolding bad work, and the Arches hunting event.
- Counted as strict — refusing the food request, withholding praise, scolding poor work, and the Toly study event; the Japanese wiki also lists the two beach-event choices.

What is still unsettled
Nobody has published the exact thresholds. The Japanese wiki author states outright that the conditions worked in their playthrough but are not proven, and no source gives the full six-form matrix. Fandom and Gamerch still list four Auras even though the official achievement data lists six, so treat any “only four exist” claim as an outdated page rather than a fact.
The passive percentages attached to WILD — a 50 or 100% critical chance increase and a 25 or 50% damage taken increase while ignoring commands — come from a single wiki. The direction is corroborated by the Steam thread on alignment; the numbers are not.
